MyMedicare
We would like to invite all our patients to register with us as we participate in the new MyMedicare initiative.
What is the MyMedicare initiative?
MyMedicare is a Commonwealth Government initiative. It is a voluntary registration that will allow all Australians to register with their preferred general practice and preferred general practitioner. The registration aims to:
- Strengthen the relationship between you and your practitioner
- Provide you with continuity of care
- Improve the quality of your health and wellbeing
- Improve access and better integrated care
- Provide availability of longer telehealth consults.
How does MyMedicare help us at Fox Valley Medical and Dental Centre (FVMC)?
Registering in MyMedicare will help us better understand our patients, their needs and help us cater our services to meet our patient’s needs.
As your registered practice, FVMC will be visible on your MyHealth records. MyHealth is one platform where all your pathology & imaging results, immunizations, health summaries, current medications, hospital discharge information and more will be uploaded. This will allow us to be better informed about your health and requirements, allowing us to provide comprehensive care with better health outcomes.
The registration will also provide better incentives to the practice that will leverage us to provide optimum services to you.
How do I register?
There are three ways to register with us:
- Apply online via the Medicare app or Medicare online website
- Complete a downloadable form and email it us at FVMC@sah.org.au or hand it to a team at the practice in person
- Respond to an online invitation we will send you via the Medicare app or hotdoc.

Am I eligible to register in MyMedicare?
- To be eligible for registration, you must have had 2 face-to-face visits with our practice in the past 2 years.
- If someone in your family is registered, you can register with our practice without meeting this requirement.
Is there a cost to register?
No. Registration is completely free.
Can I be registered to more than one practice?
No. You can only be registered with one practice at one time. However, you can still attend any practice at any time.
Can I change my registration?
Yes. Registration is voluntary and you can change registration at any time.
Is my information secure and private?
MyMedicare does not hold any clinical information unlike the MyHealth record. You can read more about MyMedicare and privacy of your information in their FAQs.
